If you’re used to social networking, you’re probably familiar with the “delete from friends list” option. Sometimes, in the virtual space we gather people we don’t even know and establish relationships that hurt us more. You need to know when to distance yourself from certain people and stop investing time in those who don’t deserve you.

Nowadays, friendships often end this way, especially among young people. People you don’t get in touch with on social media don’t exist in your life. It’s a cold, impersonal way to break those bonds.

Based on this example, we can say that many of us should do the same in “real life.” Sometimes we are burdened with certain relationships that turn into an obstacle in our personal development.

That doesn’t mean you should start knocking on your doors to let your friends and acquaintances know that you don’t want to have anything to do with them.

How do you know that you have to distance yourself from certain people?

It is not always easy to realize when you have ceased to be important in someone’s life. These people may even stop respecting you, putting their own needs first.

You need to know how to tell the difference between people who really need you and those who “broke” your heart a long time ago.

  • If you have children, you’ve probably noticed that at some point they don’t seem to need you anymore. In their case, it is about maturing and developing independence.

In reality, your children will always need you. Here we are talking about friendships.

Some so-called friends appear in your life only when they have selfish needs. When they need a favor, they need to be heard, and you are the only person who “really knows how to listen to them.” You have to be very careful with these individuals.

Prove your affection, support and understanding for your friends, but only when they do the same. Friendship, like any relationship, is based on a mutual exchange of emotions, thoughts, support.

  • If you do not feel that you are offered all these things and that the person is looking for you only when he wants something from you, do not hesitate to impose some limits.
  • As already mentioned, there is no need to immediately break any connection. All you have to do is make your feelings known and set boundaries.

“I can’t do this, it’s not good for me” or “I noticed that you don’t just look for me when you need something. I want you to appreciate me more as a person. ”

You are much happier if you have a free mind and a full soul. Therefore, do not hesitate to stay away from people who do not really value you.

There will be moments full of pain when you realize that a loved one has stopped considering you important in her life. Maybe he doesn’t appreciate you anymore or he doesn’t need you anymore, so it’s time to distance yourself from certain people.

This discovery will cause wounds that are difficult to heal. However, you must remember that the love of your life must be you.  If you do not love and respect yourself, you will not be able to enjoy a second chance.

There are only a few people around you who are really important. There is no need to “accumulate” friends, as on social networks. In real life, we love the people around us.

  • People who really need you will prove it to you. They will do this wholeheartedly, without being selfish or emotionally blackmailing you. These people love and respect you. In addition, I know how to establish a sincere relationship that favors both parties.
  • If the people who need you prove it to you, don’t forget to do the same. When we prove to those around us that we need them, we give them extraordinary recognition. We make them feel useful, important and an essential part of our lives.
